VCRVinnie I don’t mind the turtles having romances provided they’re not taking over the core of the action and character.
I agree. You have to remember that TMNT is a fantasy action brand, not Dawson’s Creek. It’s not about who hooking up with who, but about ninjas, aliens and robots kicking the crap out of each other.
And as you said, It’s fine they explore new interests and relationships if it develops the characters, creates stakes and get the audience emotionally engaged (something that Marvel doesn’t get about Spider-Man’s marriage with MJ) but it shouldn’t be the focus of the main story.
If it were up to me they would handle it the same way as when April and Casey got together in IDW by having a five or six part miniseries that doesn’t interrupt the flow of the main story. If you’re charging people five bucks a pop for 5-10 minutes of reading time once a month you shouldn’t be slowing things down with slice of life stuff. It’s something that Sophie Campbell and others at IDW didn’t seem to understand with the soup kitchens, group therapy and (groan) battles of the bands.
Give me my money’s worth.
