Makes me wonder if it was originally intended to be longer. There's no way IDW thought "hey, let's make a 7-issue mini-series."

I still haven't gotten around to reading issues #3-5... I've been actively putting it off. I have never felt this repulsed by a ninja turtles comic book before.

Clearly I wasn't the only one.

Comics are often plotted out months or even years in advance. Seven issues is possibly the closest they could to end the story while still getting some return on the money they sunk into it.

If it was up to me they would end it with Jennika going on tour with Sheena and then flash forwarding years into the future where she is doing an interview.

honestly memes aside the band going on tour would be a fine way to write these characters out and not have to bother with them until they have more solid story ideas for them. and if they never do again thats ok. let them be musicians or whatever.

Tatoruzu Thank God they shut this down quick. IDW's already in the gutter as is so I'd imagine they can't afford to take on another bad comic that will bleed money so they just cut their losses, but then again, they just brought Lita back so you never know with this company...

Also LOL to his comments. It's becoming tiring to see the same shit happen over and over again. Activist writers are pushy when it comes to "social commentary" in media because their end goal is ALWAYS a deliberate and calculated to attempt to normalize their subversive, radical ideology in the public consciousness. It's why they'll never stop unless you put actively your foot down and tell them no.

Tatoruzu it is kind of funny that they ask "what do you like about jennika" and he completely dodges the question. what passion. and, to be clear, i liked nightwatcher. i mean it took 3 or 4 issues to be interesting and im not exactly a fan of it but i liked it well enough. i just think the fact that he completely bypassed the question about liking the character speaks volumes about how much he actually cared.

It seems like they're actually listening to feedback regarding TMNT tbh.

While the Lita story is questionable, there is a lot of evidence pointing to their effort to rehabilitate their TMNT universe:

No TMNT-related pride month bullshit last year
The decision to launch a new #1 without Campbell's characters
Quickly cutting their losses with Nightwatcher instead of letting it suck them dry for 50 issues
And this is the schizo in me talking, but the decision to double down on the Roninverse with a potential new ongoing series? (as hinted at by Tom Waltz here)

Tatoruzu I'll say I'm cautiously optimistic about Aaron's run so far rn, but all of that sounds like really good news. If so then it hopefully looks like IDW is genuinely trying to course correct. I'm still skeptical for now considering the Lita announcement, but the things you mentioned are all definitely positive steps.

Tatoruzu Yep. Given the page he wrote with the construction worker in issue #1, his message and underlying worldview isn't exactly subtle. He literally used every single rhetorical trick in the book just in that one page.

well he tried to compare it to illegal immigration when its not comparable. the mutants in question ARE american citizens and do have a legal right to be there and work. he fundamentally misunderstands why people who are against illegals have that stance and completely ignores the more interesting fictional politics in favor of directly references real world issues. he did later seem to fix this by issue 4 (5?) but i guess it was too little too late
