im watching it rn. animation is great i really like its art style. comedy is VERY hit or miss. i dont forsee any of the character changes bothering me since this continuity itself is intended as a joke. its charming but like i said before i dont forsee this being a very compelling incarnation of the turltles. it seems mostly to be focused on being disposable fun. which makes me wish its episodes were bite sized 11 minutes instead of the standard 22.

I'm going to have to heavily disagree there. Anything that isn't an action scene looks extremely choppy. There is so little smooth motion that part of me doesn't even want to consider it animation.

I learned a long time ago to stop letting shit like this bother me anymore and just ignore it completely. Hun isn't even my favorite villain (although he's a more worthwhile contribution to the overall Turtles mythology then the rest outside the source material), but he doesn't deserved to be humiliated along with everyone else in this slop.

You know I don't even believe The Last Ronin will be "Rated R" as these studios don't care what a writer wants, but rather what they want, however it has to be a balls deep action-to-action flick as this point. If it fails, then the Turtles will basically be the humiliated comic book property in the landscape like it's been since Laird sold the rights all those years ago.

i dont think ive ever seen a comic adaptation be majority faithful literally ever. the Mcu has adapted like 100s of characters at this point but basically 0 stories. sure they might take a popular element or two and shove it where it doesnt belong. like stripping everything cool out of planet hulk and shoving what remains into a joke of a thor movie. even more grounded stuff gets borked, the walking dead is at least in the conversation for most unfaithful butchered adaptations of all time. i do not understand why its like this but its always been this way. i think people just have a general lack of respect for comics and the stories they tell even if like half of all movies at this point are based on comics or at the very least a novel.

and it sucks because at the end of the day the comic book is the workhorse medium. its the medium where you can have a new installment to the story every month for decades with no breaks. even more once you account for spinoffs or if your title is successful enough to go bi weekly. stuff like movies and tv shows have a long gap between releases and honestly tv seasons are really short nowadays. its unfortunate that (arguably) the best storytelling medium we have is so overlooked by the general public. at best they get weird mutated copies of the source material.

Gort Hun isn't a comic book character, but due to his role as leader of the Purple Dragons (who only appeared in issue 1, mind you) in the 2k3 show, he became a integral part of the TMNT mythology from the onwards.

Gort Also, my point isn't that every adaptation must be 100% faithful, rather that characters not just in TMNT, but in every other comic book adaptation now seem to indulge in humiliating any male characters like Hun, Ghost, Taskmaster, etc, etc.

i mean hes since appeared in the current mainline continuity of comics. its semantics at this point like arguing over whether harley quinn truly counts as a comic book character or if the turtles are cartoon characters. its all comic book based media as far as im concerned

Mr_Toitle its not at all exclusive to male characters. the way april and angel are portrayed in the show are deeply unpleasant morons who are constantly mean to people around them for no reason. none of the characters are portayed particularly well. this iteration of the tmnt is one where everyone is incompetent and dumb and its all played for laughs. not really what i want in a tmnt show but it do be that way.

Tatoruzu My first thoughts when I got a glimpse of the art style for the show was "This looks like fanart." I don't care whether the choice to do so was intentional or not, it looked very cheap regardless.

Tatoruzu thats just tv animation. its always going to look lesser when compared to top tier animation youd see in a film they will always be saving time and budget for action scenes and everytjhing else will suffer greatly. and at the end of the day the action scenes here are probably the best theyve ever been in a tmnt cartoon. (except maybe the 2012 or rise series i wouldnt know i havent seen those)

Jackko I’ve seen a ton of people say that ever since the first trailer for MM dropped and it’s honestly true as fuck. That voice just doesn’t fit Raph at all. Doesn’t help that the kid who voiced him was almost certainly a nepo/crony hire as well considering his history working with Rogen
