gday i am hearing rumours of the 1990 teenage mutant ninja turtles movie coming to 4k blu ray next year for its 35th anniversary do you guys think there is any chance of new interviews, deleted scenes, making of documentrys being included hell do you guys think there is the possibility of seeing a directors cut of the movie.

Excited to see the movie in 4k. Although, the 1080p version did ruin immersion a bit, especially with the seams of the costumes more visible. I actually find VHS to be the best way to watch it LOL.

Seems likely we'll get some extra content. But doubtful we'd see a director's cut.

Also, just posting this for reference. The source of this rumor is Ernie Reyes Jr. on Facebook:

im really into the 4k format and this is one of my dream 4ks. hopefully theyre able to go back to the original negative and actually remaster the movie. id love to see arrow video or kino lorber handle the remaster because paramount themselves are pretty hit or miss on remasters.

edit: does paramount own this? i looked it up and it says new line cinema distributed it? wtf

Pretty sure Warner Bros owns it. In 2009, Viacom was only able to secure what TMNT rights were owned by Mirage Group and 4Kids Entertainment, but they never struck a deal with Warner Bros for the 1990 movie, which New Line Cinema originally owned the distribution rights for. They probably just didn't give a fuck because they wanted to do their own movies anyway.

The movie did show up on Paramount Plus for a brief period, so some sort of deal must have been struck.

But it's unclear if Paramount, Warner Bros, or a third party who obtained licensing rights from Warner Bros are doing this remaster (I haven't seen any other news besides the Ernie Reyes Jr. post).

well if its warner brothers thats odd because they never commission new special features for catalogue releases. but arrow video does and WB has been licensing titles to arrow a lot recently. an arrow video TMNT 4k would be awesome.

Gort just got my arrow 4k of deep blue sea and now i want an arrow 4k of tmnt more than ever. they do such great restoration work

Gort Haven't heard specific news about the Blu-Ray, but the movie is showing at select theaters nationwide this year for the 35th anniversary. A home release seems inevitable.
