Well, I just finished rewatching Season 3 and... Yeah, I think there's a reason why I stopped watching around this point. Characters like Raph and Mike regress every episode now. The writers trying to hard with the rat puns with Splinter. The meandering in the second half with Shredder just sitting on his ass finding a way to "bring Karai back" instead of thinking of a counterattack against the break ins by the Turtles (and allies).
Seriously, Savanti, Renet, the Hamato Clan, and The Triceratons saved this hump of garbage season. And this isn't purely because I'm a Mirage guy, but because those were legitimately the only exciting parts of this season.
Anyways, here's my mini-reviews of each episode:
Episode 1: Ok start, yet lacks an interesting villain.
Episode 2: ... No comment. Couldn't even finish the damn episode all the way.
Episode 3: A bit pointless to me.
Episode 4: The plot was a bit too generic. Probably should've just sticked with the original Punk Frogs.
Episode 5: What could've been an interesting episode just plays out like another typical Horror Movie homage. And it does it the most boring way possible.
Episode 6: Actually quite like this one. It was refreshing to see Don and Casey actually working together. Also, as a Mirage guy, you can definitely tell this episode is inspired by Sky Highway.
Episode 7: Good episode. Another Mirage homage at the beginning with the Bird swopping down to catch a fish.
Episode 8: Fine episode. Just doesn't warrant enough of a reaction from me.
Episode 9: Ok episode. I mean, it was as much of an adaptation of "Return to New York" as the 2k3 cartoon.
Episode 10: Decent episode. This show really should've kept Zeck and Steranko as humans. Which leads us to...
Episode 11: Just didn't care for this one. Bebop and Rocksteady did not to be in this damn show when you could've developed Rahzar and Mr. X.
Episode 12/ 13: I really REALLY hate the fucking Turtle Blimp. It's the cherry on top of TPTB. That said, at least it gets destroyed. Oh, and the episodes were ok.
Episode 14: Not too bad. I still wish the show actually aged the characters this time instead of stagnating them for 5 seasons.
Episode 15: Not too much to say about this one.
Episode 16: Terrible, terrible episode.
Episode 17: Didn't care.
Episode 18: Another dreadful episode.
Episode 19: Good, VERY GOOD. I don't like Savanti "technically" being a mutant though. Especially with this version's inconsistent mutation mechanics.
Episode 20: The best episode of the season hands down. Should've been a two-parter.
Episode 21: An episode dedicated to the Toy suits. I think you know my thoughts.
Episode 22: Terrible.
Episode 23: Pointless homage episode that just leaves Karai out of the way for now.
Episode 24: Great episode! Raph needed more screen time like this!
Episode 25/26: An awesome finale. Though, in the grand scheme of things seems redundant compared to the previous finales.
Overall score - D
I don't man... Maybe I should just stick to the first season or so. That's where the show showed the most potential anyway.
