Yeah, the podcast won't be solely focused on debates, but debates will still likely occur on the podcast from time to time.
Some (maybe interesting) backstory:
Not sure if I said this publicly or not, but once upon a time, I envisioned a more debate-centric podcast. The conception of the idea came from the debate I had back in May. It was a spur-of-the-moment sort of ordeal and I didn't really have any time to prepare. I went straight from arguing with the guy on Twitter right into a Discord call.
I know some of the main complaints on that video was the lack of a moderator or the fact that we were just yelling over each other and talking in circles. Personally, I don't really care — I think that sort of thing is entertaining.
But because I didn't have any time to prepare, I was ultimately unsatisfied with the video's overall aesthetics, presentation, and audio quality. It was just a video of my avatar over a green background screaming at a nameless and faceless person for an hour and a half. And during certain points of the video, my avatar would pick up sound coming from my opponent and would move its mouth while I wasn't talking. Presentation-wise, it was just a mess.
I had told the guy that I'd speak with him again sometime, so I wanted to be better prepared for when that happened. And if I was going to go through the process of preparing new graphics, protocols, and everything else, then I might as well make it an "official" podcast.
But as I started to think about it more, I realized that "debating" would be way too narrow of a focus. And it probably wouldn't be easy to get people to debate with on a consistent basis.
So I decided to go with a more broad approach where I'll probably speak with anyone as long as they're an adult and willing to talk about TMNT or adjacent topics.
That said, I'd love to have people on with different opinions as long as they're willing to have a discussion. I'll probably fulfill my promise to have another chat with the guy I debated previously, and that chat very well could end up resembling another debate.
And this would probably never happen, but some day, I'd like to have a chat with Sophie Campbell and see where we could find common ground.
